Next up we have Jess Blair, busy mother-of-two and Go Healthy Australia naturopath. Her sleep routine is like clockwork and will likely inspire you to make better decisions throughout the day for a better rest through the night.
Do you have a pre-bed ritual?
Yes. I try and read, and I also get off all screens. I either bath or shower than head to bed and sometimes do night-time Pilates class, which winds me down too!
What time do you get into bed?
Honestly sometimes it can be as early as 8pm! I need sleep to function properly and because I’m an early riser, by 8:30-9pm most nights, I can’t keep my eyes open!
Who shares your bed?
My husband and usually my son runs in, who’s four-and-a-half, most nights!
What time do you wake up?
I wake up anywhere from 4:30-5:30am most mornings!
What disturbs your sleep?
My son, any noises and if I’m cold or too hot.
What do you listen to?
I’m obsessed with podcasts. I listen to crime ones, Glennon Doyle (love her!), The Food Medic Podcast and also The Deep. I also love listening to audio books in the car and before bed sometimes I’ll listen to a podcast if it’s not too heavy.
What’s your one tip to getting a good sleep?
Have a routine! And remember that starting your routine from the moment you wake will help you get to sleep at night. It’s not just about what you do last thing at night but first thing in the morning. So, from the moment you wake up don’t scroll on your phone, try to get some natural sunlight in your room, or go and sit outside in the sunlight, and move your body. Natural light in the mornings helps to set your circadian rhythm for the day. Also hydrate before you caffeinate.
What’s your sleep position?
I’m usually a back or side sleeper depending on if my son is in my bed. But I also swear by my By Natalie sleep pillow. She has a quiz on her website, which can determine which pillow suits you.
What do you wear to bed?
I’m obsessed with my By Natalie sleepwear. I have a few sets and I just rotate them now. I love the material. It’s cooling and once you try it you will never go back.
What do you dream about?
It really depends… sometimes I have really vivid dreams and sometimes I don’t dream much at all.
Do you take anything to help you sleep better?

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
My alarm, but usually most mornings I wake up myself without an alarm. Back to those circadian rhythms — if you go to bed at the same time every night, you’ll find it easier to wake up at the same time in the morning. Of course, it’s not always possible but I do my best. I hit the gym first thing in the morning and I love working out so usually jump out of bed pretty happily.
Do you set an alarm?
Yes I do. Sometimes I need it, sometimes I don’t!
Do you snooze?
I NEVER snooze! As soon as that alarm goes off, I am awake. I know… wild right?! But, I never snooze.
