NBA franchises have slowly been unveiling their jerseys for the 2020/21 season, but one specific design has sparked the most discussion.

The Cleveland Cavalier’s City Edition uniform has been brutally mocked by fans after it leaked this week, several bluntly claiming it looks ugly.

However, many critics quickly changed their tune upon discovering a hidden detail in the jersey’s design.

In recognition of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, each letter of the jersey’s text is taken from the logo of an iconic rock band.

There’s been plenty of debate on social media about which letter represents what band, but the general consensus seems to be:

C – Cleveland Cavaliers

L – Sex Pistols

E – The Who (or potentially the Sex Pistols again)

V – David Bowie

E – Metallica

L – The Beatles (or potentially Led Zeppelin)

A – Nirvana

N – NWA

D – Pink Floyd

The Cavaliers endured a horror 2019/20 season, in which they finished bottom on the Eastern Conference ladder with a 19-46 record.

The 2020/21 NBA season is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, December 22nd, but the start could be delayed due to a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases.

NBA players began daily coronavirus tests on the weekend under new health and safety procedures outlined by the league to clubs.

Although last season was completed in a bubble at Orlando, each club’s 72 games will be staged at empty home arenas this season.

The NBA is set to announce the 2020/21 schedule in the coming days.
