Former Bulldogs hooker Michael Lichaa has been charged with domestic violence offences after an alleged altercation at a home in Sydney’s south.

Mr Lichaa, 27, was rushed to hospital with serious arm injuries after an alleged fight at his home on Connells Point Road in Connells Point.

Officers were called to the home in the early hours of Sunday morning after Mr Lichaa, another man believed to be a current NRL player and a woman, were involved in an argument which allegedly escalated into physical violence.

Police will allege Mr Lichaa assaulted a 26-year-old woman, who was known to him.

He was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital where he had surgery.

He was released from hospital late on Sunday and taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with common assault (domestic violence), destroying or damaging property (domestic violence) and stalking/intimidation causing fear of physical harm (domestic violence).

Mr Lichaa was granted conditional bail and will appear at Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday.

The former hooker was part of the Canterbury-Bankstown squad since 2015 after one season at the Cronulla Sharks. He was delisted last year.

Inquiries into the incident continue.

The NRL has been contacted for comment.
